How Rockers reunion started
In 2006, Alan Boothman, along with his wife, Pat, decided for old times to have a Sunday run in August from the White Hart pub in Nottingham to The Ship & Atlantic Bar in Skegness. Both were used by Rockers from the 60’s.
The run was done again in 2007 and 2008, getting larger each year. An offer was made by Lydia Cummings, the Events Manager of The Ship & Atlantic Bar to make 2009 a full weekend meeting. Alan was offered help to organize this by Alwyn Kettle and Tony Calladine as they were in the middle of gathering information and photographs on the Nottingham Aces and the Mansfield White Cross. Two Rocker groups from the 60’s who did this run on Bank Holidays throughout the 60’s.
On the 8th and 9th August 2009, the First Rockers Reunion was born, with approximately 400 people attending on both days with many old friends seeing each other for the first time in many years. Also, some new friends were made on this weekend with people who were there in the 60’s but had never met then!
Already plans for a Second Rockers Reunion are in progress for the same weekend in 2010! This website has been formed from this reunion and will keep you informed of the next one, together with other items of interest and a place where you can contribute too!
